DISSING RIVERS: Philip Rivers, shut your mouth. When/if you become an elite quarterback like Tom Brady or Peyton Manning, then you can run your smack. Right now, shut it. You are not that good. You are embarrassing yourself and your team. Nice win by the Chargers. I realize Norv Turner took out the “A” team after the third quarter, but I give this win to the defense.

TOM FERRELL, San Diego

WEAK LINK? First of all, great win, Chargers! The defense looks strong as can be and the offensive line and LT looked awesome! But what's with Rivers running his mouth near the end of the game? He hasn't been around the league long enough and quite frankly is not playing close to good in most games this year. I think he is the weak link of this team. Shut up and play, Philip, and show some class like LT.

BILL RYAN, Vista

STREET FIGHT: With about eight minutes left in the game, Philip Rivers was seen jawing about who-knows-what with Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler. The announcers tried to make a big deal out of it. But that's just the nature of the AFC West division. All of the teams hate each other. Our fans hate the other team's fans. And they hate us. It's called a rivalry.

Maybe if the AFC West got more national coverage, the ESPN announcers would get it and understand that football in the AFC West is a knock-down, drag-out street fight. That's the way we play football. And that's what you can expect from us. Even from our quarterback. See you in the playoffs.

PAUL WILLEMSSEN, Bay Park

INCONSISTENTLY CONSISTENT: I get a kick out of the jabberbirds on ESPN. All through the first half they kept dissing Philip Rivers. “Yeah, that was a great pass, but he's inconsistent,” one of them pontificated. Then Rivers throws two passes for first downs and a third for a touchdown. Gee, how inconsistent can you get?

BOB DREW, Oceanside

TURNED AWAY: As hard as coach Norv Turner tried to let the Broncos back into the game, they would have none of it.

R. GRAF, San Diego

MUTING THE PRESENT: As fun as it was to watch our red-hot Chargers team dismantle this floundering Broncos squad, “Monday Night Football” (and its announcers) has gotten so bad that it was better enjoyed with the mute button on. Thanks for the early Christmas gift, Norv!

DAN TEISAN, Santee

THE CHANCE: After a 1-3 start, the Chargers came back to prove they are the class of the AFC West. Now they need to step up and prove they are part of the AFC elite by going deep into the playoffs. Norv Turner, now is your chance to truly win over the Chargers fans.

CHIP HOGUE, Santee

TO THE WOODSHED: Enough is enough, Philip Rivers. He is the first one to cry to an official when things aren't going his way, and he's the first one to taunt an opponent on the field or from the sideline when things are going good. An obvious lack of maturity is so evident from his actions that it can only hurt the offense and infuriate opponents to a point where retaliation will come. Act like you've won a football game before. Show a little class!

LT, take Philip out to the woodshed and tell him that his antics are hurting the team and show him how a true professional should act!

BOB WILSON, San Carlos

PERFECTION: Let the cheating Patriots have their perfect season. The Chargers will have their perfect postseason.

JACK BRIGGS, La Jolla

INTENSITY: The Broncos looked more like a plow horse, rather than the tough, rough-playing team that we have come to expect. The Chargers' defense (welcome back, Luis Castillo) looked playoff ready, and the offense, with LT running at will, looked great. The Raiders are on the horizon and what better way to end the regular season than by racking up the Raiders and wrapping up the No. 3 seed? Great job by all, including charged-up Chargers fans. It was almost playoff intensity in the stands.

RICHARD ANAYA, San Diego
