CROWN ACHIEVEMENT: The Lions came in to the Chargers' den, but it was the Chargers that roared. All phases of the team, including the backups, played their best game of the year. It appears the team is starting to peak for a serious playoff run. Moving into the third seed of the AFC has significant benefits for the newly crowned AFC West Champions. Congratulations for a great game and a new crown. Go Chargers!
RICHARD ANAYA, San Diego
OFFENSE SHOWS UP: The Detroit Lions were manhandled defensively, while the offense put on quite a show, too. Rivers is finally getting back in sync, and LT . . . well, enough said. Let's also give credit to that offensive line; a job well done.
MARK MENDELSON, Pacific Beach
EVERYONE CONTRIBUTES: How about 238 yards rushing and four touchdowns by LaDarren Tomlinsproles! And, six turnovers by five different defenders. A solid performance by all. Way to go Chargers!
PAUL VERSAILLES, North Las Vegas
KEEP WINNING: The next two games are as crucial as any the Chargers have played all season. Win both and face Cleveland and Indianapolis. Lose one and most likely face Jacksonville and New England.
CURTIS KELLEY, Niagara Falls, N.Y.
RIVERS' AID: You can call me crazy, but I think Philip Rivers should wear the brace throughout the playoffs. He has been a different quarterback since he had that brace put on. It appears that he makes a more concentrated effort to set his feet before releasing the ball.
CONNIE SNODDERLY, San Marcos
CREAM RISES: Congratulations, Chargers! It took awhile, but the best has risen to the top. Rest the team for the next two weeks and let's get ready for the playoffs.
SID CAVEY, Lakeside
PEAKING AT RIGHT TIME: At last the real Chargers emerge. What an awesome display and excellent team effort. No more “Mr. Nice Guy” from Norv “Give 'em hell” Turner. Every week this team gets better and better, which is exactly what's needed when heading into the playoffs.
PETER SMITH, Cardiff
FEELING PRIDE: The thrillers are exciting, but it is also nice when the entire team shows up and plays so well. This game was a great confidence builder and should help the team peak at the right time. San Diego loves a winner, and we may have one this year.
PAUL ZUSCHIN, Allied Gardens
KEYS TO WINNING: Da Bolts look like the Chargers of Air Coryell today. Keys to the game: The Chargers played with great intensity, and the offensive line controlled the line of scrimmage. See what happens when you block?
JAMES PATTERSON, Philadelphia
