Voice of the fans

UNION-TRIBUNE

November 20, 2006

MYSTIQUE NO MORE: Love it that our Chargers beat the cheap-shot Broncos at their house. Hate the ejection, but we all saw why they have that reputation. One of these days the officials will figure this out. So much for the mile-high mystique! Great win!

MARK ROGERS, Encinitas

THE GREATEST: I have been fortunate to attend almost every Chargers home game during their entire franchise history, ever since the team moved from Los Angeles to San Diego in 1961. I can now state with utmost certainty that LaDainian Tomlinson is the greatest player in San Diego Chargers history. Case closed!

ROBERT HARUTUNIAN,

La Costa

SOMETHING SPECIAL: Kudos to Tim Sullivan, who was the only sportswriter at the Union-Tribune to pick the Chargers. San Diego has something special here, and Sullivan was the only one to recognize it. Wayne Lockwood is smiling down on you,

Tim.

DOUG BILLION, El Cajon

SUPER BOWLING? Collecting from co-workers who bet against the Chargers: $50! Selling your Play Station 3 on eBay: $4,000! Watching the Chargers win the Super Bowl in Miami: priceless!

ROD JOOYAN, La Mesa

TOO LEGIT: The question the Chargers faced going into Denver was: Are they a contender or a pretender? Check the scoreboard, fans, the 2006 Chargers are legitimate contenders. Bring on the rest of the best.

RON PARKER, Spring Valley

IMPRESSIVE AGAIN: By now, the whole country knows that the only team capable of stopping these San Diego Chargers are the Chargers themselves. Back-to-back, thrilling, improbable come-from-behind wins against two good teams on the road with this patchwork defense has been very impressive, and I believe the game ball must go to A.J. Smith for amassing such a deep and talented team. This is also the game that wraps up the MVP for LT.

DAN TEISAN, Santee

LT GETS GOING: Wow! What a game. When the going gets tough, LT gets going. Everyone now knows who the most balanced team in the NFL is. Offense, defense, special teams . . . Chargers. In the medieval times, the Charger was the horse that the knights rode, the elite. The Bronco was just another horse. Tonight the Chargers were the elite team. Go Bolts!

DAVID DOANE, Spring Valley

OLSHANSKY CALL: Speaking of rushing to judgment, hey, Marty, maybe after you review the tape you won't be so harsh on Igor.

DAVID VIRISSIMO, San Diego

EXORCISING RIGHTS: So many past Chargers demons were exorcised with this comeback win in Denver, and without our two best defensive players on the field! This could be the pivotal game that leads to San Diego fans going crazy every weekend in January 2007. Maybe even the first week of February as well.

TONY CARTMILL, Lakeside

SATISFYING: The Chargers players, coaches and front office all deserve accolades for a very impressive performance against the Denver Broncos last night, and I'm sure they'll get them. So suffice to say, that was one of the most satisfying Chargers victories in a long, long time.

SCOTT FOX, Point Loma

HISTORY CLASS ACT: See the way LT casually handed the ball off to the referee after scoring his 102nd career touchdown (as well as his fourth TD in two consecutive games)? While other “superstar” players around the NFL are busy doing a little dance or flashing a sign when scoring the occasional TD, LT is busy shattering records and thanking teammates for helping. He is truly history in the making. Stay classy, LT, stay classy.

STEVE SCHONBERG,

Mira Mesa
