A funeral for Todd Doxey will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at The Rock Church, 2277 Rosecrans St. in San Diego.
Doxey, 19, an outstanding athlete while at Hoover High, died July 13 in a swimming accident near the campus of the University of Oregon, where he earned a football scholarship.
Viewing will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at California Burial Chapel, 2200 Highland Ave. in National City.
Donations to help pay funeral costs can be made to the Todd Doxey Jr. Memorial Fund, Washington Mutual Bank, 4415 Imperial Ave., San Diego, CA 92113. Any Washington Mutual office will accept a donation to this fund.
Fundraisers also are planned to help pay costs. Todd Doxey Memorial T-shirts are being sold in the front parking lot of Hoover High at 2 p.m. Thursday. A car wash is planned from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Young's Market, 3120 Market St. in San Diego, CA.
Hoover High Athletic Director Ron Lardizabal said if contributions exceed costs, a Todd Doxey Perpetual Memorial Fund scholarship will be established to aid future athletes.
