SOUTH LAKE TAHOE – Two women were shot to death and another woman has been arrested in connection with the killings west of Lake Tahoe, El Dorado County authorities said.
Sheriff's deputies responded about 5 p.m. Thursday to a home in the Pleasant Valley area after a woman called the California Highway Patrol dispatch to say she had been shot, Sgt. Phil Covanec said.
Two victims were found shot inside the home. One woman was dead at the scene and the second woman died en route to the hospital, Covanec said.
Both women were shot with an unknown weapon, he said.
Dana Leigh Dodd, 48, was booked on charges of first degree murder and was being held at the El Dorado County Jail in Placerville, authorities said.
A motive for the shooting was not immediately known, Covanec said. Names of the victims were withheld until relatives are notified.
Pleasant Valley is located west of Lake Tahoe and east of Placerville.
