Gunfire traps 4 Riverside police inside house

Four Riverside police officers were trapped inside a house but escaped unharmed after they were fired on while trying to conduct a probation search at a home in a gated community.

Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Dennis Guttierez says the suspected gunman –33-year-old Joe Armenta – remained barricaded inside the house in unincorporated Jurupa for about six hours before surrendering Wednesday morning.
