Get-rich online scheme settlement ends joyride

ASSOCIATED PRESS

9:22 a.m. August 29, 2008

RIVERSIDE – The joyride is over for two Southern California brothers who must sell exotic cars as part of a Federal Trade Commission settlement of an online get-rich scheme.

The FTC says Eric Louie of Corona and Calvin Louie of Lake Elsinore cheated 50,000 people out of nearly $5 million with get-rich-quick Web sites like Fastcashathome.com and Moneymakingsecret.com.

Consumers paid $47 to $129 each to become members.

The brothers' $90,000 Lamborghini Gallardo coupe and a $230,000 Ferrari F430, plus $350,000 cash, are now being forfeited as part of an Aug. 19 federal court settlement.
