Boys and girls born in years 1994 to 2001 are invited to join the Oceanside Recreation Winter Youth Basketball League.
Teams will be formed according to age and ability levels. The purpose of this league is to have fun, improve skills and play good basketball.
Cost is $70 per person (includes T-shirt, trophies and official fees). Register now through 6 p.m. Wednesday. A copy of the child's birth certificate or other age verification is required at the time of registration. All late signups will be placed on a waiting list.
League play begins Dec. 1. Games will be played at Melba Bishop Recreation Center, Beach Recreation Center or Oceanside High School's gym on Saturdays.

SD Volleyball Club tryouts under way
The San Diego Volleyball Club is hosting travel team tryouts. Athletes in grades seven through 12 are invited to attend all of the evaluation sessions to ensure the best assessment of each athlete's skills.
Travel teams compete in the Southern California Volleyball Association's season league, which runs from January through June. The season culminates at a weeklong tournament in Reno, Nev.
Ninth grade: Nov. 18, 1 to 2:30 p.m.; Nov. 19, 5 to 7 p.m.; Nov. 25, 9 to 11 a.m.; Nov. 29, 5 to 7 p.m. Tryout fee $50.
10th grade: Nov. 18, 3:30 to 5 p.m.; Nov. 26, 5 to 7 p.m.; Dec. 1, 9 to 11 a.m.; Dec. 3, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tryout fee: $50.
11th grade: Nov. 18, 6 to 7:30 p.m.; Nov. 28, 5 to 7 p.m.; Dec. 1, 2 to 4 p.m.; Dec. 4, 5 to 7 p.m. Tryout fee $50.
12th grade: Nov. 18, 6 to 7:30 p.m.; Nov. 28, 5 to 7 p.m., Dec. 2, 4 to 6 p.m.; Dec. 4, 5 to 7 p.m. Tryout fee $50.
