VISTA – The Sheriff's Department is asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect in commercial and vehicle burglaries in North County.
The man was caught on surveillance video using the stolen identification and bank cards of a victim in Vista to cash stolen checks taken in vehicle burglaries in Carlsbad and Oceanside, said Margaret Barone, a Vista sheriff's detective.
The man is known to frequent casinos in Valley Center.
Detectives said a victim reported his identity stolen in Vista in June. Their investigation led to the stolen checks in the vehicle burglaries, Barone said. “I'm sure the suspect's been doing it for a while,” she said.
Anyone with information is asked to call San Diego County Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at (888) 580-8477.
A $1,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
